Today we did an overview of two different kinds of plot structures.
Comedic Structure:
We watched "C: None of the Above" to learn about comedic structure. Comedic structure occurs when the hero overcomes obstacles and gains his/her goal, but does not become any wiser as a result. He/she doesn't change.
Remember: C overthrew A and B, but could not understand 3 in the same way A and B couldn't understand C. Therefore, C did not change.
Dramatic Structure:
We watched "The Fan and the Flower" to learn about dramatic structure. Dramatic structure occurs when the hero overcomes obstacles and becomes wiser as a result. The character changes.
Remember: The fan came to the wisdom that his love for the flower was more important than his own life and therefore sacrificed himself for her. The fan changed.
Comedy: no change
Drama: change
